SMALL CLAIMS COURT INAUGURATED IN JIGAWA STATE

The Small Claims Court (SCC) in Jigawa State has taken off. The court was established in November 2021 to resolve commercial disputes involving small claims of N1million and below within a short period of time. The goal is to reduce cost and time wastage in litigation for MSMEs especially. Over the past few months since its establishment, the court was equipped and a magistrate appointed to preside over its proceedings. All other necessary manpower requirements were also subsequently filled. The court has since commenced proceedings.

The SCC was inaugurated on the 27th of May 2022 by the Honourable Chief Judge of Jigawa State. Present at the inauguration were the Chief Registrar High Court of Justice, the Honourable Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice and our Director General, Furera Jumare.
