This visit included tours of rice and wheat belts, Baranda Farm Estate, and the Jigawa Farm Mechanisation Company. The mission’s highlight was the announcement of a US$624 million investment by China Overseas Engineering Co. Ltd. (COVEC), targeted at seven priority areas including rice, maize, cassava value chains, cattle ranching, fisheries, agro-machinery assembly, and solar-powered agricultural parks.

Plans are in place to expand similar projects to Gumel, Kazaure, Hadejia, and the Maigatari Border Free Zone to enhance power supply, create jobs, and drive economic transformation across Jigawa.
