InvestJigawa joined a high-level technical mission to Argentina led by His Excellency the Governor of Jigawa State

The mission was part of Jigawa’s strategic push to establish the state as Nigeria’s centre for forage production and modern agribusiness. Together with local and international partners, the team examined pathways to industrialise the alfalfa value chain as a foundation for stronger livestock production and enhanced food security.

In Argentina’s Córdoba Province, a region with a semi-arid climate much like Northern Nigeria’s, the delegation studied a cluster model that links smallholder farmers with advanced industrial hubs. This approach ensures a consistent supply of quality feed for local use while opening up opportunities for export to global markets.

The InvestJigawa team visited Biofarma S.A., Nafosa, and Pellfood facilities to assess fodder production technology and processes. The mission also included tours of extensive alfalfa, soya, and corn farms where the delegation observed efficient irrigation systems and modern farm management techniques that contribute to high productivity.

For InvestJigawa, the engagement offered practical insights that will inform our work to broaden employment, grow internally generated revenue, and accelerate Jigawa’s transition from subsistence farming toward a market-oriented agricultural economy with international reach.

With firm partnerships and committed follow-through, this technical engagement helps lay the groundwork for a more competitive livestock sector and a stronger economic future for Jigawa.
